Manchester City took another step in their bid towards securing their fourth consecutive Premier League title with a hard-fought 2-0 win over relegation-threatened Nottingham Forest on Sunday.
Despite some struggles in their performance, Guardiola’s side hit the front after the half-hour when Josko Gvardiol lost his marker Morgan Gibbs-White from Kevin De Bruyne’s corner and got in front of Murillo at the near post to dispatch his third goal in five matches.
Earlier victories by Arsenal in the day had intensified the pressure on City, but they remained composed and resilient throughout the match. Forest, fighting to avoid relegation, displayed commendable effort but were let down by their poor finishing.
The result means that the title is still in Manchester City’s hands due to their game in hand, and whilst you’d expect them to play better than they did today, they still have the champion’s quality of grinding out wins in the run-run.
