  • Cole Palmer provided a perfect summary of Chelsea’s 1-0 loss to Manchester City in the FA Cup semi-finals yesterday on Instagram.

After Chelsea’s FA Cup semi-final defeat against Manchester City at Wembley Stadium, Cole Palmer conveyed the feelings of both players and supporters with a single-word post on social media.

Chelsea went into the game looking to make the final of the competition for the fourth time in five years. But they met up against holders City, who were determined to retain their title.

Despite City’s dominance in possession, Mauricio Pochettino’s squad created more promising opportunities to win the game, with Nicolas Jackson missing a handful of them.

In the end, they were simply not clinical enough and were made to pay as Bernardo Silva secured City’s victory with a late goal just six minutes before the final whistle.

It was perhaps no surprise that Cole Palmer was again one of the pivotal figure for Chelsea, as he came up against his former club. After the game, he posted a picture of himself laying on the Wembley turf at full time on his Instagram stories and added a caption that reads ‘sighhh’.

Although Palmer appeared to sustain a minor injury during the match, Pochettino believes it was merely fatigue and anticipates the 21-year-old’s availability for the upcoming Arsenal fixture on Tuesday.

Chelsea are currently in ninth place in the table but are three points behind sixth-placed Newcastle and Manchester United in seventh. The Blues have a game in hand over both sides.
