Decrees studied to soften effects of strike

The Minister of Justice and the Interior, Fabio Valencia Cossio, said the Government is studying the possibility of issuing two protective decrees in support of the ‘state of internal commotion’ decreed last Thursday as a way to stop the judicial strike.
The first decree looks to have” some minor offenses switched to contraventions so they can be heard by Police inspectors or by conciliation, as was foreseen in the previous law”, said Valencia. The second measure would be the notification via private messenger service instead of in person or through edicts, as it is currently given.
