Medellín welcomes the world to Fashion Week
Colombiamoda XXIII kicks off this week in Medellín as fashion experts, buyers and manufacturers gather for an exhilarating event that never disappoints.
This year the country’s main fashion event has something else that sets it apart, as it’s the first one since the approval and implementation of the Free Trade Agreement with the United States; therefore expectations are higher than ever for local and national businesses hoping to strike new deals with the Northern giant.
Our local finished product is certainly competitive and has much to offer international markets, so much that Inexmoda chose to open the New Business Models wing for a second consecutive year. It makes sense considering that between 2001 and 2011 franchises in Colombia grew 350 percent; today the country has 427 franchises that generate 81,000 jobs. 9,500 buyers, 1,500 of them international, will be in town to see the work of 450 exhibitors; 29 runway shows by 19 designers, 11 brands and three fashion schools will present the spring/summer trends.
Colombiamoda will serve as preamble to the Fashion for the World Festival, the traditional Flower Festival and, of course, the much-anticipated Madonna concerts. Welcome to Colombiamoda, Medellín celebrates your presence.
