BASC and U.S. customs, on excellent terms
The memorandum of understanding signed between the Business Alliance for Secure Commerce (BASC) and U.S. Customs and Border Protection is a ‘pat on the back for the private sector-led coalition and a nod to the job it’s doing in terms of ensuring transparency in the international logistics chain.
A tight relationship between BASC and U.S. Customs will also be beneficial for the FTA between Colombia and the United States because it will allow U.S. authorities to fully connect with Colombian exporters. “This agreement gives trust, credibility and a less risky profile to companies certified yearly by BASC,” said Anita Moreno, executive director of the group’s Antioquia chapter.
