Mental illness affects Medellín and surrounding areas
Social and infrastructural advances aside, Medellín isn’t altogether in great shape. 26,6 percent of the population has suffered or currently suffers from some kind of mental disorders.
Anxiety, phobias, depression and substance abuse, among other disorders, are problems affecting the mental health of Medellín’s residents according to a study by CES University and the Mayor’s Office, backed by Harvard University and the World Health Organization.
Results will be used to address factors that are causing the disorders, which are different in each of the city’s areas.
