Study takes a look at city’s progress
The Salazar administration came out relatively well in the analysis of quality of life evolution 2008-2011 completed by the Medellín Cómo Vamos program, but it was also concluded that there is significant ground still to cover in terms of security and the quality of education.
As far as coverage, there was significant improvement in access to early childhood education, which leaped from 49,5 to 79,6 percent but, according to program director, Piedad Patricia Restrepo, progress made in quality was less notorious. One cannot speak of a competitive city and knowledgeable society when most of its students don’t even learn the basics for their age group.

Our city needs much improvement, we have a long way to go before we can claim to be a premier city, we must improve mostly in the security area. Medellín is not the worst and not the best city in the world, it is a great place to live, we must improve to make it better, that takes time.
