World expresses outrage over Farc attacks
The international community was vocal in its rejection of the atrocities committed by Farc in Cauca and Nariño with attacks that killed 19 people in just 24 hours.
The first to speak out was the Organization of American States through its Secretary General, Jose Miguel Insulza, who said the attacks are “an insult to the Colombian State and a despicable crime against its people which deserves the emphatic rejection of the entire international community.”
A spokesperson from France’s Foreign Relations Ministry expressed his country’s “profound shock” over the attacks and sent condolences to the people of Colombia.
Meanwhile Spain condemned the “abominable and cruel actions, which are an attack against Colombians’ efforts to secure a safe and peaceful future.” The Spanish government reiterated its commitment to “cooperate in the fight against terrorism.” Mexico and the Group of 24 also condemned the attacks and sent deepest condolences to all victims and Colombians.
