At the age of 39, Henrique Capriles is quickly becoming the Venezuelan opposition’s top choice to run against President Hugo Chávez in October’s presidential elections.

Leopoldo López recently withdrew from the race and endorsed Capriles, making the latter’s victory in February’s primaries all the more likely. Despite his youth, Capriles has been actively involved in politics for more than a decade and sympathizes with the moderate left, while López has declared himself of the center-right.
