Venezuela will deport ‘Diego Rastrojo’ to Colombia

Lunes, junio 4th, 2012

Venezuelan President, Hugo Chavez, confirmed he will deport Diego Perez Henao alias “Diego Rastrojo”, who was arrested in Venezuela, back to Colombia.

“I spoke with President Chávez a few minutes ago and he said he would send us that criminal in a few days and that he wanted to congratulate the Police for the arrest and that of three others allegedly responsible for attacking women with acid,” Santos said in Bogotá.

“Diego Rastrojo” had become the head of the criminal gang “los Rastrojos”; he is currently being held in a jail in Caracas where he was transferred from Barinas. The 41-year-old was a member of Farc’s 48th front and then the Northern Valle cartel.

Farc kills two officers, a woman and an unborn child

Lunes, junio 4th, 2012

Two police officers, a 63 year-old midwife and an unborn child were killed in a senseless attack by Farc’s 15th front in La Montañita, Caquetá..

Two civilians had called police to request assistance for a woman who had gone into labor. The officers picked the woman up along with a 63-year-old woman who was assisting her, but the vehicle was ambushed on the way to the hospital.

The pregnant woman was shot three times and is still in delicate condition. An eight-year old boy was also injured after the police vehicle crashed into a house when it was attacked.

It’s worth mentioning that this is the same area where French reporter Romeo Langlois was abducted by Farc a month ago.

World awaits transit of Venus

Lunes, junio 4th, 2012

The passing of Venus across the face of the Sun, a transit, is not an everyday occurrence. Today, as long as the clouds allow it, Colombians will be able to witness one of these rare events, the final one for this century, as the next one will not take place until 2117. In Colombia, the transit should start at approximately 5:09 p.m.

With telescopes raring to go, scientists will use this as a chance to examine the planet’s atmosphere and gather clues that may lead to the discovery of new extra-solar planets.

Transits of Venus are so rare because the planet’s orbit is tilted relative to the Earth’s; the two planets line up with the sun only four times every 243 years.
