Terry Carter, the iconic Battlestar Galactica and McCloud actor, has died at the age of 95.

The star died ‘peacefully’ at home in New York on Tuesday, according to a statement on his website. According to the website, Renowned Terry Carter passed on peacefully in his home on April 23rd, 2024.

Carter, who was born to a Dominican mother and an Argentine and African American father, was one of the first black performers to be cast as a series regular on a television sitcom when he played Pvt. Sugarman on “The Phil Silvers Show” in 1955.

Carter is survived by his wife, Etaferhu Zenebe-DeCoste, his two children, Miguel and Melina, his spouse’s daughter, a granddaughter, and several cousins.

In 1988, he created and directed a television film about jazz superstar Duke Ellington.
