Manchester United’s recent struggles have sparked a heated debate about the team’s recruitment strategy, with former player Paul Parker suggesting that up to 18 first-team players could be sold this summer. While that might be an exaggeration, it’s clear that big changes are coming to Old Trafford.
According to report, only 10 players are guaranteed to stay beyond the September deadline, including Andre Onana, Lisandro Martinez, and Bruno Fernandes. Mason Mount, despite his injury issues, is also expected to remain a key player. Luke Shaw and Diogo Dalot, who have both impressed in recent months, will likely stay on as well.
But what about the rest? Harry Maguire, Raphael Varane, and Victor Lindelof could be sold, with the club eyeing new center-backs, including Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite. Jadon Sancho and Anthony Martial are also likely to leave, along with Brazilians Casemiro and Antony, who have both struggled in their second seasons.
The biggest surprise, however, is Marcus Rashford, who could be sold “for the right price.” Despite his recent slump, Rashford remains a talented player, and Paris Saint-Germain might be interested in signing him to replace Kylian Mbappe.
United’s attacking performances have actually improved without Rashford, with Antony and Alejandro Garnacho starting on the wings in recent wins against Chelsea and Sheffield United. It’s clear that Erik ten Hag has some tough decisions to make this summer, and the future of Manchester United’s squad is very much up in the air.
